Ms. Thornberry and Ms. Barker are the second and third candidates to abandon the race after the Minister of Housing Alison McGovern retired on Wednesday.
The supporters of Mrs. Barker should throw their weight behind Mme Powell, with a saying of the MP for Manchester Central: “She is closer to Andy Burnham, and she has just been dismissed, so those who don’t like Morgan McSweeney [the prime minister’s chief of staff] I guess I go behind her. “”
However, while describing it as “slightly further left” than Mrs. Phillipson, they said that she was “barely socialist”.
