ISLAMABAD: The nation marks the 149th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who is fondly remembered as the ‘Father of the Nation’, with a renewed commitment to uphold his principles of faith, unity and discipline.

The main ceremony of the day took place at the Quaid-i-Azam Mausoleum in Karachi, beginning with a befitting changing of the guard ceremony. The atmosphere was one of solemn pride as a military band played ceremonial and marching tunes, ending with a heartfelt rendition of the national anthem.

Prominent civilian and military leaders of Pakistan gathered to honor Jinnah’s extraordinary contributions and leadership in shaping the nation.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tributes that underlined their commitment to upholding Jinnah’s vision for a progressive and prosperous Pakistan. They described his life and legacy as a reminder of the resilience, determination and historic struggle that led to the creation of the nation.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), representing the Pakistani armed forces, also expressed its respect. Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of Air Staff Field Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu reiterated their commitment to the principles enunciated by Jinnah. On behalf of the armed forces, they underlined their commitment to fostering the strong, sovereign, democratic and prosperous Pakistan envisioned by Quaid-i-Azam, guided by the enduring principles of faith, unity and discipline.

Jinnah’s remarkable leadership, dedication to constitutional values ​​and unwavering determination have been cited as eternal sources of inspiration to meet contemporary challenges. The armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the sovereignty of the nation, maintaining territorial integrity and devoting their efforts to ensuring peace, stability and national development in line with Jinnah’s ideals.
