Prayagraj (Utar Pradesh) [India]September 7 (Ani): an extraordinary celestial show will take place this evening while a total lunar eclipse will be visible through India, including Prayagraj. Jawahar Planetarium officials said the event is entirely sure to look with the naked eye.
Experts explained that a total lunar eclipse occurs only a full -moon night, when the moon is or near the lunar node on its orbit. In this alignment, the sun, the earth and the moon come in a straight line, creating the eclipse. Ordinary people can see this eclipse safely with the naked eye.

During the eclipse, the sunlight crossing the earth’s atmosphere will disperse shorter wavelengths while allowing red and orange wavelengths longer to reach the surface of the moon, giving it a red orange appearance popularly known under the name of “blood moon”.
Millions of people around the world should attend a total lunar eclipse on Sunday, turning the blood of the moon in red. The celestial event will probably take place during the night on September 7 and 8, offering a rare and fascinating show.
As Skywatchers in India will also have the possibility of seeing the Moon transform into a red orb, changes are already made to religious activities. A Ganga Aarti was also made in Varanasi before the eclipse.
Addressing Ani, Pandit Purushottam Gaud, astrologer, shared that the blood moon will be visible across the country on Sunday.
Revealing that the lunar eclipse will also mark the start of the “Shraddha Paksha”, a ritual played to honor the died souls of the ancestors, Pandit Purushottam Gaud said that it was a good time for charity.

It is considered special both of an astrology and a point of view of astronomy. Eclipse will last approximately 3 hours and 28 minutes in total.
