The former hip-hop magnate was condemned in July to have piloted people across the country for sexual meetings, including his friends and male workers, in violation of the Federal Mann Act.

A jury has acquitted, 55 years old, more serious racketeering and sex trafficking that could have put it in life.

Prosecutors say that he should spend more than 11 years in prison for his conviction for two transport managers to engage in prostitution. Combs lawyers want him to be released now, saying that the long sentence requested by prosecutors is “madly out of proportion” with crime.

The American district judge Arun Subramanian, who will decide, said that Combs will probably not be released. He has twice rejected the deposit for the rapper, who was imprisoned in a federal detention center in Brooklyn since his arrest a year ago.

Apart from the Manhattan court, the scene echoed that of the highly publicized Combs trial.

Hordes of photographers were waiting for lawyers and members of the Combs family to arrive, including several of his children. His mother Janice Combs arrived earlier. On the other side of the street, the television teams broadcast live in front of a municipal park.

The conviction comes after a trial of almost two months with evidence of women who described being beaten, threatened, sexually assaulted and sung by combs.

A former girlfriend, the singer of R&B Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, said that Combs had ordered her to have “disgusted” sex with foreigners hundreds of times during their decade relationship.

The jury has been shown several times video clips of Combs dragging and beating Cassie in a corridor of the Los Angeles hotel after one of these several days sex marathons, which she described as “freak-offs” during her four days of evidence.

A woman who testified under the pseudonym “Jane” told the jurors that she had also been the victim of violence and felt forced to perform sexually with male workers in “hotel nights” fueled by drugs while Combs was looking and sometimes filmed.

To support their racketeering business, prosecutors also called on witnesses who testified on other violent acts.

A former personal assistant testified that Combs had raped her. One of Cassie’s friends told the jury that the combs swelled her from a 17th floor balcony. Rapper Kid Cudi testified that Combs had burst into his home after learning that Cassie and Cassie came out together.

Although the jury has acquitted racketeering, the judge can always consider this proof as he decides.

Judge Subramanian also plans to letters submitted by Combs and some of its accusers.

In his letter to the judge on Thursday, Combs promised that he would never commit another crime if he was released, saying: “Old me died in prison and a new version of me has an appointment.”

In her letter, Ms. Ventura described Combs a manipulative attacker who has “no interest in changing or becoming better”.

“He will always be the same cruel, swallowed and manipulative man he is,” she wrote.

A former personal assistant who declared that Combs had raped her in 2010 asked the Subramanian judge to pronounce a sentence “which takes into account the in progress that my abuser poses and others”.

The former assistant, who testified under the pseudonym “Mia”, should speak during the conviction on Friday.

Combs will be addressed in court, according to court documents. His defense team also plans to play a video of about 11 minutes.

Combs lawyers say that sexual meetings were consensual and that being in prison accelerated the sobriety of Combs and forced it to learn from his bad behavior. They said it was not necessary to stay behind bars because it has already been punished enough.

During a court hearing last week, Combs told his mother and children that he “gets closer to his home”.

The judge granted a defense request to allow Combres to wear normal clothes and non-jet during his conviction.

He will be allowed to have a buttoned shirt, a pair of pants, a sweater and a pair of shoes without laces to wear, said judge subramanian.

The condemnation “has significant importance for Mr. Combs,” wrote his lawyer, Teny Geragos. Combs wants to appear “in the most worthy and respectful way possible”.

Combs was authorized to wear an outfit without a trial, but not to an hearing last week when judge Subramanian heard arguments on the submission since the rejection of the defense so that his conviction is canceled. In this case, the judge said that his lawyers had waited for too long to ask him that he be authorized for normal clothes.
