As we have learned, the airport authorities in Munich distributed blankets, water, and snacks to passengers tonight.
In addition, Munich Airport was unable to provide accommodation for all passengers due to high occupancy caused by Oktoberfest.
A spokesperson for the Federal Police Directorate in Munich told Bild that they are following up on the drone sighting report.
“We are following up on the report that a drone may have been sighted. For safety reasons, air traffic control suspended flights at 9:28 p.m. Safety comes first,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Munich Airport announced on its website: “On the evening of October 3, German air traffic control (DFS) restricted flights at Munich Airport as a precautionary measure due to unconfirmed drone sightings and suspended them until further notice.”
Incidentally, Munich Airport was also closed on Thursday evening due to drone activity, which led to 32 flights being canceled or rerouted, affecting around 3,000 passengers.
