Warsaw, Poland (AP) – France said on Friday that it deploys fighter planes in Poland and the United Kingdom has announced new sanctions targeting the oil revenues of Russia and the war machine as the first stages of Europe to the incursion of the Drone of Russia in Poland aimed at sending a signal to Moscow that any other attack will not now be casual.
French President Emmanuel Macron said that he would deploy three advanced burst advances to help protect the airspace of Poland and the oriental side of NATO to respect a commitment he made towards Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. He said the deployment was discussed with the ONO secretary general, Mark Rutte and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
“The security of the European continent is our absolute priority. We will not give in to the growing intimidation of Russia,” published Macron on X.
The French Defense Ministry said that the gusts are carrying out patrol missions alongside other NATO planes and will be accompanied by ground staff. There will also be equipment and ammunition.
The new British sanctions include prohibitions on 70 ships which, according to the United Kingdom, are part of the “shadow fleet” of Russia which transports Russian oil in defiance of the sanctions already in place. Thirty individuals and businesses – including Chinese companies and Turkey – have also been sanctioned for their role in the supply of electronics, chemicals, explosives and other weapons components.
The new sanctions came while the British Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yvette Cooper, made her first trip to kyiv Friday after her appointment a week ago after the upheaval of the Starmer firm.
Cooper said his visit is a demonstration of solidarity with Ukraine who faces a missile and a Russian drone sheltered a year ago.
“The United Kingdom will not be lazy while Putin continues his barbaric invasion of Ukraine,” said Cooper, noting what she said is the “full contempt of the Russian president for sovereignty” by sending drones to NATO’s plain space.
“International action to increase economic pressure on Russia and reduce the critical cash flows which he desperately needs to pay this illegal war is vital.”
Reflecting the support of Great Britain to Ukraine, Prince Harry paid a surprise visit to kyiv where he met the injured soldiers on Friday.
Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski also visited Kyiv on Friday. His Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha posted on X that the two officials would discuss “shared security, EU and NATO membership in Ukraine, and pressure on Moscow”. Meanwhile, the Polish Defense Ministry said that it would work with Ukraine to train staff on anti-drone defense.

Russian air defenses have shot 221 Ukrainian drones on more than a dozen Russian regions on Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The attack involved some of the highest drones reported by the Russian army, but there has been no report of significant damage.
Meanwhile, Tusk, the Polish Prime Minister, rejected the suggestion of American President Donald Trump that the incursion of the drone in Poland could have been “a mistake”.
“We also hope that the attack on the drone against Poland is an error,” wrote Tusk on X. “But that was not the case. And we know it.”
